Magnolia Boys Place 3rd at 2021-2022 Regional Meet, Send Six Swimmers to State

The Bulldogs competed in the Region 6-5A Championship this week and both men and women ended the meet with 3rd place team results.
 

The boys scored 260 points to ensure a 3rd place finish at the meet jumping up a place from the 2020-2021 and earning a spot on the podium. They started the meet off with a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay automatically qualifying state. The relay comprised of Nick Moylan, Dylan Gregg, Nathan Scott and Josh Brooks also set a new school record with a time of 1:36.55. The boys team didn’t stop there and closed out their meet with a big win in the 400 Free Relay where they were 2.5 seconds faster
than second place. This relay comprised of Nick Moylan, Nathan Scott, Alex Carver and Josh Brooks smashed the previous school record of 3:16.7 with a 3:11.68 for the win.

 

Nick Moylan began the day with a 1st place finish in the 200 Free qualifying him for state and breaking the current school record. He capped his day off with a win in the 500 Free (4:39.48) posting another record breaking performance.
 

Alex Carver earned his first individual spot at state with a 2nd place finish in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:01.36 out touching third place in a tight finish by .05. He also earned a call up in the 200 IM (1:58.35) placing fourth.
 

Nathan Scott swam the 100 Butterfly with a personal best of 52.02 for a 3rd place finish. He was the first call up earning him his first trip to state in an individual event. Nathan also added points to the team total swimming the 200 Free and earning an 8 th place finish.
 

Josh Brooks was a significant addition to the boys team for this school year. He took gold in both is 50 Free (21.39) and 100 Free (46.99) automatically qualifying for his first state meet. Josh swam anchor on both the qualifying relays.


Levi Hollenbeck scored points for boys in the 100 Breast swimming to a 9th place finish. He was also a member of the 200 Free Relay where he combined with Dylan Gregg, Gabriel Lewis and Alex Carver for a 9th place finish.


The 3m Diving event was all Jake Bigler. Bigler posted a score of 352.60 to earn 1st place and his second trip to the 5A State meet.
